This is a piece that I did that would be made for a public seating bench. When designing it I really didn’t want the people to have to sit right next to the other person. Like in the mall and you need to take a break from walking, all the benches have someone already on them. What do you do? A lot of people I know don’t like sitting right next to strangers. So this way at least you aren’t rubbing elbows.
In he design I wanted it to be a fun place to sit down. So in original design this bench is about bar stool height. This bench would more and likely is set in an area with more young generation, thirteen through thirty year olds, would use them, such as a club or mall, or even a new up coming business.
The cushions would be a red tone so that it would pop, but yet it would be muted if in a club scene to give it a rich tone. The tubing would stay true to the material, tubular steel.
In my opinion this peice could be used as a re-design contest but I would rather put it in the art and architecture. This is my version of "Public Seating."
